Vladimir Putin visited Valaam.

The President visited the Transfiguration of the Savior Patriarchal Monastery on Valaam on the day celebrating the memory of Saints Sergius and German, the Valaam Miracle Workers.

Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia attended a service celebrating the memory of Saints Sergio's and German. They continued their conversation after the service.

The Transfiguration of the Savior Patriarchal Monastery on Valaam is among the most highly respected in Russia. Every year, over 100,000 pilgrims and tourists visit this monastery located on Valaam Island in the north of Lake Ladoga.
